The winner has been decided! Huge thanks again to everyone who entered. I loved the sheer variety of the entries, and it was really difficult to pick just one winner - I spent a lot of this week going back and forth and wishing I had more prizes to give. That said, the grand prize winner is:

To celebrate the release of the Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse remaster, The Lost Village is running a fanfiction contest! The author of the winning fic will receive a complete Japanese MotLE goods box containing the soundtrack CD, "Rogetsu Isle Reminiscences" art book, and two folders. Four more participants will be chosen by random number generator to receive one item each from a second goods box. (Please note these are Japanese products so all text will be in Japanese.)

Submissions deadline: 31 March 2023  Extended to 10 April 2023

Rules

1. Fic must be complete.
2. Fic must not have been posted online prior to 1 February 2023.
3. Fic must be your own work, not copied or translated from elsewhere.
4. You must be over 18 to participate.
5. In the event that you win, you must be willing to give me an address where I can send any prizes. I promise your personal info won't be shared or used for anything else.

Fic Eligibility

• Minimum wordcount: 300 words. There is no maximum.
• Fic can be in languages other than English, but be aware I'll be relying heavily on machine translation.
• Fic must include some element from Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse, be it a character, a location, a bit of lore, or anything else you can think of. However, the fic doesn't have to be all about FF4. You're welcome to include original characters or elements from the rest of the series. Crossovers with other canons are also allowed, but keep in mind I'm running this as a Fatal Frame fan, and that's going to be my main priority when judging.
• Other than that, content is completely unrestricted. The fic can be about whatever you want. (Yes, even that.) If you have any specific doubts feel free to hit me up on Discord (digitalis#6360), but my answer is almost certainly going to be, "That's fine, write what you like."
• You can submit as many fics as you like, so long as they meet the requirements!

To submit a fic, please fill in a copy of the form below and email it to midwinter@thelostvillage.net with the subject line "Fic contest entry". You can include the fic as an attachment (.txt or .rtf format preferred) or copy it directly into the body of the email.
